Social Bookmarking- A Useful Tool
Social bookmarking is still one of the best ways of generating free quality backlinks from sites with a greater page rank than your own site. However, it is important to see social bookmarking as a way of generating backlinks rather than traffic in most cases. If your site is not video based and does not have up to date news content that is likely to go viral then the social bookmarking traffic is likely to be of little benefit compared to the backlinks generated. Social bookmarking traffic is often low quality browsing traffic rather than people that are genuinely interested in your site. Subsequently, social bookmarking traffic also produces high bounce rates and incredibly low conversion rates.
While in the past, submitting to as many of the main social bookmarking sites would have had a benefit to your site no matter which of the directories you submitted to, that is definitely no longer the case. It is no worth submitting to a social bookmarking site unless it has a page of 5 or above. You can use the tool at : http://www.top25web.com/pagerank to check the page rank of potential bookmarking sites. My two favourite and most successful bookmarking sites are Stumble Upon and Digg.
Finally, do not abuse the system. While submitting every single page in your site to the social bookmarking sites may seem like a good idea and in the short term will bring results, it is a bad idea. In the whole term it will eventually harm your ranking once Google realises your site has so many links come from the same site. Moreover, in the wider picture, people who submit their whole site to the social bookmarking site will cause Google to demote the social bookmarking sites and their benefits will be lost forever.

How to Get More Diggs!
How to Get More Diggs
For many internet webmasters, Digg is one of the most popular and useful social bookmarking tools around and has literally millions of users. Unfortunately, like so many things for the web, Digg has been ruined for the masses by the few. Too many people were submitting every single page of the site so they would be indexed in Google immediately. Because of this overuse, the value of Digg links is gradually decreasing and they are having a smaller and smaller effect on the ranking of your site. The only way around this current problem is Digg your page but ensure that it attracts at least 30 Diggs if not more. The recent changes in Google’s attitude to Digg means that sites with over 30 Diggs will benefit from the network but sites with just a few Diggs could actually harm their ranking. As a result, it is now vitally important that webmasters know how to get more diggs.
The easiest and most effective way to get more diggs is to help other people that are doing just the same as you are. You will need to take the time out to add as many active Digg users in your category as possible. Then, when you Digg something of your own you can shout out/ share your Digg with your new found ‘friends’. Leave a message on the shout explaining that if they Digg your post then you will do the same for them in the future. It is crucial you add active people who are likely to be on Digg regularly and likely to Digg your post. Moreover, when your ‘friends’ ask you to Digg their new items you need to do the same for them otherwise they will notice you have not and no longer do it for. I would not recommend adding more than one hundred friends otherwise you will be forever Digg their posts that you will have no time to do anything else. This may be a crude way to get more diggs but it is effective and works well.

Improve Page Rank (Google)
Improve Page Rank (Google)
In the earlier days of the Google search engine, before it became the global superstar that it is today, the page rank of a site was a key factor in determining the ranking of a site. Now Google assesses ranking primarily based on other factors and its other algorithm (yes, Google used 2 algorithms). Subsequently, page rank will have little effect on your actual ranking, indeed sites with no page rank can rank above site’s with page ranks as high as 4. Instead, page rank is now seen as a status symbolise or a trophy/reward for your work rather than anything more meaningful or useful. Nevertheless, some of the techniques to improve page rank will also help improve your Google rankings.
Trust
Trust and popularity are the two things that you need to consider when you want to improve page rank. Trust is both how highly Google regards you and indeed how much your visitors trust you. Incorporated within trust is the age of the site, how long the domain is bought for and other information that you may not have been expected to be included in the page rank. Moreover, you need to have relatively low keyword densities and large areas of text to improve the user’s experience and improve page rank.
Popularity
Secondly popularity, this is not what you would have expected. In the online world of ranking sites in search engines, popularity is measured in terms of links with your own site and backlinks. The more sites that link to your own site then the greater your popularity is deemed to be and the higher your page rank, it really is as simple as that. However, the more complicated part is the building of the backlinks to the site. You can do this through article marketing, forum posting, blog commenting and many more way. See the section specific to free backlinks to learn more.
Overall
Ultimately, if you are running your website as a full-time job then it might be worth considering page rank when you are building links to the site and writing the content. However, it is not really worth the effort and if you are running your site part-time then it is definitely not worth the time or effort. If you decide to ignore my advice, then it is vital to remember that trust and popularity are the two most important things to improve page rank.

Free Backlinks- Learn your generate thousands of free backlinks here
Free Backlinks
Nearly everywhere you look on the web with regards to SEO, you will read that backlinks are one of the most important things in determining in search engine ranking. It is considered that each backlink counts as vote a for your site. The more votes you have then the higher your site will rank within the major search engines. Moreover, if a site with a lot of votes (high pagerank) votes for your site then this will count more than if someone with few votes, votes for you.
Free Backlinks – Why pay?
On the web, there are a number of web directories that we charge you for the privilege of placing a link back to your site on their own site. While some webmasters can afford this option, there are free options that can bring just the same results. Moreover, aside from possibly Dmoz and Yahoo Directory (costs $300 a year), paid online directories have little effect on your ranking anyway. Based on this information, paid backlinks are not really worth spending your hard earned money on when there are literally hundreds of other ways of generating free backlinks.
Free Backlinks – Generate thousands
For your site to be fully SEO optimised and for your site to have a consistently high ranking for some of the more competitive keywords, you will need thousands of backlinks from trusted sources. Yes, generating free backlinks can be a tedious and time consuming process but it is worth the effort in the long run. There are literally thousands of ways of generating free backlinks but I am now going to list three of my favourite methods.
1. Article marketing – Write articles and submit them to the leading article directories. Leave a link back to your site in the resource box. The articles need only be 60% unique so you do not have to write something completely new every time. Ezinearticles is the best and most trusted article directory on the web. DO NOT simply copy and paste content from your site as articles because they will reduce the ranking of site.
2. Social bookmarking – Admittedly, the benefits of social bookmarking have diminished in recent years but it is still worth doing as a part of your SEO strategy. I would definitely recommend submitting to the leading directories like Digg, Stumble Upon, Technorati and others. It is up to you how many you can bother to bookmark on.
3. Blog commenting- This is often overlooked by many webmasters but for me it was one of the easiest and best ways to generate free backlinks from sites related to the content to your. Simply go on other blogs related to the content of your own, leave a comment and then place your site url at the end of the comment.
My final tip for generating free backlinks is to do it little bit but often. You are not going to generate thousands of links overnight so be patient. You should implement Google Webmaster Tools for you site so you can keep a track of the number of backlinks to your site.

Article Marketing The Basics- Learn how to make the most of Article Marketing
Article Marketing - The Basics
Article marketing is one of the best and yet relatively under used SEO techniques. Many people see writing articles as a waste of their time and not worth the effort. In relatively, the articles need only be around 300 words and once you have written a few you will be able to comfortably write 5 articles an hour. Articles are a way of generating high quality and more importantly free links. If you follow the steps below then you are well on your way to running a successful article marketing campaign:
1. Choose something to write about: You did keyword research when you were you choosing your domain name and writing your content (if not you should have), article writing is no different. You need to write about things related to your field and something that people actually search for if you want to make the most of the referral traffic that article marketing can generate.
2. Keyword density: Once you have decided on what you are going to write about, chosen your keywords and started writing the article, you need to make sure the keywords that you have chosen are included at least 6 times each in a 300 word article (2%). Any higher than that and moderators may ask you change the article.
3. Submission: The final step is the submission of the article to the article directories. If you are just starting out then you will have to create account with the directories before you can submit. I would only recommend submitting to the top 25 directories on the web including Article Alley, GoArticles, Article Dashboard, Ezinearticles, Article Gold and the many others.
4. Resource Box: Moreover, as part of the submission process you will need to add a link to your in the resource box of the article. The resource box is the chance for you to use around 50 words to sell your site and encourage someone to visit your site and speed their money. Make sure you include the full web address, http:// and all if you want to maximise results.
Overall, article marketing if done correctly, can bring a welcome boost to your traffic and after a month or two, boost your search engine rankings quite significantly. I must stress again, DO NOT simply copy and paste content on your site because this will undo all of the benefits the articles may bring. Each article need only be around 60% unique though some directories are stricter than others.
